The OralMax™ CBCT Scan
Treatment Begins with Diagnosis.OralMax™ CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) Scan is a specialized dental imaging technique that provides three-dimensional reconstruction of dental and associated maxillofacial structures (teeth, jawbone, and surrounding tissues) to your dentist. This visualization significantly augments your dentist's ability to relate clinical evaluation with your chief complaint by providing them with a comprehensive view aiding in precise diagnosis, treatment planning for procedures like implants and extractions, and a deeper understanding of your oral health. Consequently, the underlying cause of the dental concern, and subsequent fact-based treatment plan are enhanced through imaging tools.
The OralMax™ CBCT Benefits
When is OralMax™ CBCT Necessary?Beyond Sight DIAGNOSIS.
After a clinical evaluation of your chief complaint, your dentist determines that visualization of the underlying dental structures is necessary to diagnose the dental concerns.
Three Dimensional Imaging TREATMENT.
Accurate diagnosis and treatment planning are the backbone of any medical and dental therapy; for this reason, cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) was introduced and has been widely used. CBCT technology provides a three-dimensional image viewing, enabling exact location and extent of lesions or any anatomical region. For the very same reason, CBCT is not only used for surgical fields but also for fields such as endodontics, prosthodontics, and orthodontics for appropriate treatment planning and effective dental care
The American Dental Association & the US-FDA recommended that clinicians perform dental x-ray examinations, including dental CBCT, only when necessary for diagnosis or treatment of disease. The clinical benefit of a medically appropriate radiographic exam outweighs the small radiation risk...”
Moreover, CBCT radiation dose is only 1/3 of a standard chest x-ray and only 1/10 of a medical CT Scan, a significant reduction in radiation exposure.
The Benefit Outweighs The Risk Professional Assessment
The CBCT Process
What to expect when getting a scan.Step 1: You will be guided into the X-ray room by our technician on duty who will assist you in wearing a lead apron that will protect the rest of your body from the procedure. Step 2: Our technician will instruct you on where to stand. More specifically, you will be asked to stand straight, hold the hand grips, bite down on the bite stick, and place your chin on the chin rest to avoid unnecessary movement during the scan. Step 3: You will be asked to press your lips together, swallow once to position your tongue against the palate, close your eyes, and remain still while the OralMax™ CBCT machine rotates around your head. This entire scanning procedure will only take less than a minute. Step 4: During the scan, you may hear a few beeps, but these do not indicate the end of the scan. The technician will inform you when the procedure is complete and will assist you in leaving the machine while removing the lead apron. Step 5: After exiting the X-ray room, you will be advised to either wait for your results or return later. Alternatively, you can choose to have your results sent directly to your dentist.
